JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa says he did not approve of the Political Killings Task Team's disbandment.
Ramaphosa submitted written submissions to Parliament's Ad Hoc Committee.
Ramaphosa revealed that around 1 February 2025, he was informed by National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu had instructed the team’s disbandment.

Ramaphosa stated that he was dissatisfied with not being consulted and emphasized that the decision to disband PKTT was not solely the minister’s to make.
The President said Masemola disagreed with the decision.
Ramaphosa met with Mchunu on 13 February 2025 to address the issue and said he did not approve of the decision to disband PKTT.
